Cloak patches & back patches featuring your own design
Vest patches are patches that are sewn onto a vest – that is, the – often sleeveless – denim or leather vests worn in the biker and metal scenes.
The centrepiece is usually the large back patch (also known as a ‘colour’ or ‘back patch’). There are also smaller patches on the chest and sides.
With us, you get to design them with your own design – whether it’s a custom design, a logo, a symbol or a mix of all three. Embroidered, woven or printed, in sizes up to 42 cm. Perfect for your biker jacket as well as for metal jackets.

Back patch & colour for the cassock
The Back patch – often also Back patch or Colour — is the largest and most eye-catching patch on a jacket. It covers the entire back. Anyone looking at you from a distance will see this patch first – so it should be designed to be large and clear.
We’ll create your back patch for you entirely based on your design. The shape doesn’t have to be rectangular: it can follow the exact outline of your design. It’s common to use generous dimensions so that the patch stands out on the back – you’ll find the exact size guidelines below.
Find out more about large back patches here on our dedicated page on this topic.
Design a smock patch with your own design
Your jacket patch – your own design. That’s what we do for you: Not a shop for ready-made designs, but your own personalised patch. You provide the idea and the finished design; we’ll bring it to life.
Here’s how it works:
- Provide a motif – as a file (JPG, PNG, PDF) or as a sketch. Lettering, a logo, a symbol or a combination – anything is possible.
- Select shape and size – rectangular, round, or free-form, following the shape of your design.
- Specify the technique – embroidered, woven or printed (more on this below).
- Specify quantity – Very large patches can sometimes be ordered as single items; for smaller patches (for cost reasons), it makes sense to order a minimum of 10; the larger the print run, the lower the unit price.
Tip for a good template: The clearer and higher-contrast your artwork is when you send it to us, the better the result will be – particularly with fine lines and small text. Files must be high-resolution, otherwise the quality will suffer during production. Here’s another Further design tips. If you have any questions about the template, we’ll be happy to help you in advance.

Which patches should go on a jacket? Design & layout
A traditionally equipped cassock follows a fixed structure. The large back patch goes on the back, with the curved ‘rocker’ patches above and below it, and the main design in the centre – complemented by smaller patches on the front. Here’s an overview of where everything is:
- Back patch (colour): the large patch on the back – the central feature.
- Top Rocker: curved lettering top above the back patch.
- Bottom Rocker: curved lettering below under the back patch.
- Centre / Centre patch: the motif in the centre, framed by the rockers.
- Side & chest patches: Small patches on the front – slogans, symbols, logos.
Good to know: In motorbike clubs, the arrangement of the patches has a specific meaning and is unique to that club. Anyone who does not belong to a club, on the other hand, is completely free to design their own jacket.
We explain the meaning of the individual badges and the system used within the motorcycling club community in more detail in the Biker & MC Patches: Colours, Rockers and Their Meanings.
Top & Bottom Rocker with custom text
The curved lettering above and below the back patch is the quickest way to personalise your jacket. We’ll turn your chosen text into a curved rocker design – We’ll adjust the font size to suit the design. You should allow a bit of space per letter to ensure the text remains easy to read; we’ll advise you on the best size to choose.
Biker jacket or metal jacket – either will do
The leather jacket isn’t just for bikers. In the metal scene, the ‘kutte’ – usually a denim waistcoat with band patches and a large back patch – is just as much of a defining feature. Whether you want to customise a classic biker jacket, a metal jacket or a rocker jacket: we’ll bring your design to life for both styles.
Patches for the habit – embroidered, woven or printed
Which technique is the right one depends on your subject:
- Embroidered: The classic – robust, high-quality, ideal for lettering, logos and clean lines.
- Woven: finer than embroidery, good for rich in detail Designs on a smaller surface area.
- Printed: for photorealistic Designs and very fine details, including large areas with edge lengths of up to 40 cm.
