For over 35 years, we have been providing a reliable, high-quality service to police forces, whether for individual stations or for regional or national police forces. We have produced patches for various regional units, for specific task forces or for particular operational purposes as accompanying insignia. Production is carried out entirely to your specifications – whether embroidered, woven or printed. We offer personalised advice, top quality, competitive prices and free delivery. This means you can design your police patches as you wish and receive patches that are ready for immediate use.
We can supply you with police patches in all the shapes and sizes you require, featuring your chosen design. Whilst the police patches ordered from us are often coat-of-arms shaped or round, as is typical for official insignia, any shape – including irregular ones – is, of course, possible for the patches. For patches that are easy to remove and attach, all variants can also be fitted with a Velcro backing. We base our sizes on the official specifications of your authority, but we also produce patches ranging from a few centimetres up to a maximum of 40 cm, according to your requirements.
As well as the embroidered patches most commonly used by the police, we can also produce the finer woven version or a printed fabric patch (ideal for intricate details and a wide range of colours). Please do ask us – we’d be happy to advise you in detail, drawing on our many years’ experience in manufacturing police patches.
Also available as sturdy rubber patches
As well as fabric patches, there are also what are known as rubber patches. These are made from a rubber-like PVC material. These patches are waterproof and particularly durable. However, this also means they are not as flexible as fabric patches. Depending on the application, rubber patches are sometimes used by the police as well.
The significance of patches in the police force
Patches on police uniforms (whether those of the Federal Police, state police, criminal investigation department, etc.) are of particular significance, primarily as emblems of authority. They thereby serve to legitimise the police officer as a representative of the state.
In addition to the official insignia, other patches are sometimes worn as well. For example, there are unit insignia or role insignia (for dog handlers, BFE, district or section identifiers, etc.). In such cases, it is always necessary to clarify internally which patches – if any – that have been obtained privately are permitted on uniform.
Attachment to uniform (including Velcro)
In many cases, the patches are sewn onto police officers’ uniforms. However, it is sometimes helpful if the patches can be easily swapped to indicate assignment to different operational units or the assumption of different roles during operations. In such cases, it makes sense to attach a Velcro strip to the back of the patch. This allows the patches to be easily removed and swapped around.
As well as being sewn on or attached with Velcro, it would also be possible to fit the police patches with an iron-on backing, so that they can be attached to the uniform (or other workwear) in this way.
Create police patches / badges
To have police patches made, simply send us the design you’d like to appear on them. Please also let us know the size of the patches you require and the quantity you need (minimum order of 10; however, the price per item falls significantly for larger quantities – we can reliably and quickly produce even very large quantities of several thousand).
We will then send you a free, no-obligation quote. Once you have accepted the quote, we will create an embroidery file (or a weaving programme or the mould for rubber patches), discuss the details of the design with you again if necessary, and start production. As soon as the patches have been produced, they will be sent to you.
Is it permitted to wear police patches?
Police officers are, of course, allowed to do this. But is it also allowed if you’re not a member of the police force?
Although the word ‘police’ is not, in principle, protected, it is unlawful to wear official insignia without authorisation. Therefore, if a police patch is worn in such a way that the wearer could be mistakenly perceived as a representative of one of these authorities, this constitutes an offence under Section 132a of the German Criminal Code (StGB).
However, if there is no risk of confusion (for example, because you’re wearing a badge saying ‘Fun Police’ during Carnival or Fasching and it’s immediately clear to everyone that you’re not actually a police officer), then this isn’t really a problem.
