What is the difference between printed and embroidered?
Printed patches have a smooth surface and are particularly suitable for photographs, colour gradients and very fine details. Embroidered patches have a more three-dimensional and raised appearance.

Yes. That’s exactly what printed patches are ideal for: colour gradients, shading, photos and complex designs can be reproduced in great detail.
How long does production take?
Once you have given your approval, the delivery time is usually around 5–6 weeks. Express delivery is available on request.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Yes, as standard, we quote for printed patches in quantities of 100 or more. We’re happy to look into special quantities on a case-by-case basis.

Have patches printed & buy them online
It is always a good idea to have printed patches made if you have very intricate designs, which may even include photographs. Printing allows for far greater detail than is possible with embroidered or woven patches. So, when you have patches printed, you have even more design options than with other production methods.
Printed patches are washable up to approx. 60°C. However, they are slightly more delicate than embroidered patches, and you should avoid dry cleaning or ironing at very high temperatures with this type as well. The use of chlorine bleach or brightening agents damages the colours, which is why these must not be used. Even if your patch is subject to high mechanical stress, other production methods are often more suitable. However, for great colour designs and images with colour gradients, printing patches is exactly the right choice.
Examples of printed patches:

Fabric and edges of printed patches
When you have patches printed, a polyester base fabric is used. The designs are then printed onto this using transfer printing. This allows for a wide variety of outer shapes for the designs – the patch is then cut to the desired shape.
There are two options for the edge: firstly, laser cutting, which produces a very fine, thin edge (the laser cuts and fuses the threads at the edge, preventing it from fraying). Patches made this way are very flat and do not add much bulk.
With a overlock edge, the edge is wrapped with thread to protect it. Whilst this makes the edge of the printed patch slightly sturdier, it also provides better protection against mechanical stress. However, the overlock edge is only possible for regular shapes such as rectangles, ovals, coats of arms, squares or circles. If the shape is customised to the design, only the laser-cut edge is possible.
Attaching the patches
When you have patches printed, they can be attached in exactly the same way as any other patch: you can sew them on, or alternatively, you can request an iron-on backing when placing your order and the Ironing on a patch. A Velcro fastening on the back is also an option if you have patches printed.
Your order for printed patches
If you’d like to have patches printed, placing an order is very simple: just upload your design as an image file, select the number of patches you’d like, and specify your requirements regarding the border and method of attachment. Alternatively, you can simply email us all this information.
We will then check your order and the design once more to be on the safe side. We will then send you a final quote. Once you have confirmed your order, the patch will go into production and will then be sent directly to you, with free delivery within Germany.
Alternatives to printing badges and patches
As well as these printed patches, there are also the following options for creating your own personalised patch: embroidered and woven Implementation. You can order these from us as well.
How do I place an order correctly?
1. Enter the desired patch size: The first step is to specify the size of your embroidered patch (width and height in cm). For round patches (e.g. with a diameter of 8 cm), enter 8 cm x 8 cm in the ‘Height x Width’ field. You can order patches directly here up to a size of 12.7 cm (diameter for round patches, width + height / 2 for all other shapes). Larger patches are also possible, but will be priced on a case-by-case basis. To receive a quote, please send us your logo, specifying the desired size and quantity. We will then send you our competitively priced quote.
2. Selection of possible extras (special requests) Here you can specify whether you would like the colours in gold, silver or bronze – for a small surcharge – as metallic threads. These give patches a particularly elegant finish. We can also produce your patch with a special fastening. You can choose between an iron-on backing or a Velcro fastening. If no specific fastening is specified or requested in your order, we will produce your patches for sewing on as standard. Furthermore, two different base fabrics are available for your embroidered patch. The standard option is twill fabric (a special cotton blend), which will be used for your patch unless you select the felt backing option.
3. Specifying the desired order quantity In the third step of the ordering process, you will need to specify the quantity you wish to order. Please note that the minimum order quantity for patches is 20.
4. Specifying optional requests Please specify the font, embroidery thread and background colours in the file you upload. Please enter the colour codes (RAL, HKS or Pantone colours) in the message field. If no details are provided, our staff will select a suitable font, embroidery thread and background colours for you.
Printed Patches FAQ
FAQ: Printed Patches
What is the difference between printed patches and embroidered ones?
With printed patches, much finer details can be reproduced and any number of colours can be used (compared to just 8 colours for embroidered patches) – find out more about the differences here. Furthermore, printed patches are significantly thinner and are often described as more flexible and supple.
What is a printed patch?
A printed patch is a piece of fabric onto which your design is applied using a printing process, thereby turning it into a patch.
How much do printed patches cost?
Printed patches are available from around €0.70 each (for a run of 1,000 with your own design). For orders of 20 or more (with your own design), the cost is around €6.00 each. The price depends on the exact size; for this, there is Price calculators online.
How many colours are possible for printed patches?
With printed patches, you can use as many colours as you like in your patch design. Colour gradients are also possible, provided they are not too subtle for printing onto fabric.
How is a printed patch made?
In the production of printed patches, a printing process is used to apply ink to the backing material in such a way that the design is transferred onto it.
Tips and tricks for ironing on patches:
Iron-on patches are a time-saving, quick and extremely attractive option for anyone wishing to personalise a garment. Wherever clear identification and a smart appearance are important, an iron-on patch from Neumeyer-Abzeichen is the ideal solution for textile branding. Clubs, sports clubs and companies in particular appreciate the ability to quickly apply their emblem, crest or logo to clothing. Iron-on patches are ideal for this.
To ensure you can enjoy these high-quality iron-on patches for a long time to come, here are a few useful tips and tricks for applying them:
The iron-on patches have a special coating on the back, so they can be easily ironed onto all cotton and cotton-blend fabrics. All other fabrics should be tested for heat resistance and durability.
Carry out a quick ironing test on the fabric: iron the area where the iron-on patch is to be applied thoroughly (to warm it up).
Now position the patch where you want it. To protect the embroidery, place a damp cloth between the iron and the patch.
The iron should be set to a temperature of approx. 135 °C. Press the patch firmly for about 20–30 seconds. To do this, it is advisable to apply a little pressure with the tip of the iron (especially around the edges of the patch).
These figures are average guidelines, which you should adjust to suit the heat permeability and thickness of the fabric. You can also vary the temperature and ironing time: the higher the temperature, the shorter the time required.
If used correctly, your textiles can be washed at up to 50°C
Printed patches are the ideal choice if you want to bring your own design to life with all its colours, gradients and fine details. Our patches are beautifully crafted and impress with their long-lasting quality.
