Have any shape embroidered

In principle you can have embroidered patches made in absolutely any shape, including irregular ones (the outline follows the artwork).

Classic shapes for embroidered patches are often a square or another rectangular shape, a round patch or a triangle. The classic crest shape and any custom outline are also common with embroidered patches.

Colours available for embroidered patches

For the best rendering of your artwork as Patch we select a suitable base fabric. The logo is then embroidered onto it. A large selection of threads is available for this. You can have special effects embroidered with gold or silver metallic thread.

Turning your design into a finished patch is done with special embroidery programmes. The best technology and staff with years of practice guarantee top quality.

What to bear in mind when having your artwork embroidered

In principle you can have absolutely any design embroidered as a patch. So you can design your patches entirely as you wish.

You should bear in mind, however, that the thickness of an embroidery thread naturally means that designs, or their details, cannot be reproduced infinitely finely on embroidered patches. We do our best to reproduce your design as well as possible, but patch embroidery technology has its limits (even if you upload more detail in the graphics file).

You should also bear in mind that lettering should be at least 5 mm high so that it is easy to read on embroidered patches.

The edge and the (non-)fraying of embroidered patches

Naturally you want your patch to last and not fray. That is why, with classic patch shapes, your patch gets what is known as a merrowed border, i.e. the edges are finished with an elastic, chain-like (hence the German name) surround made from a single-colour thread.

The advantage: a merrowed border like this is very durable, makes patches hard-wearing and looks very good too.

If you have a patch with a free, custom shape, a merrowed border is only possible to a limited extent, as very sharp corners, curves and points cannot be merrowed. A very good alternative to the merrowed border is the laser cut. Here the edge is cut very finely with a laser and the threads are automatically fused together. This also creates an attractive edge that does not fray.

Types of fastening – think about them before having it embroidered

You can of course simply sew your patches on in the classic way (which is where the German name “Aufnäher” comes from).

An alternative, and often simpler, is to iron them on. We can therefore give your patches an iron-on backing and you simply attach the embroidered badges with an iron.

What's more, when having patches embroidered, a hook-and-loop fastening is also possible, applied to the back of your embroidered patches.

When ordering, simply select the type of fastening you would like.

How your order works

Ordering itself is very easy: you upload your artwork, choose the quantity and size plus any extras, and send off the order. We then check it. If a design cannot be produced for any reason or causes major problems, we will of course get back to you.

As the next step, with embroidered patches you receive a photo of your patch to check (usually a few days after your order, or in the week after). Now you can see whether the embroidered design has turned out as you imagined. Colour changes and technically feasible improvements can still be made at this point – free of charge, of course.

After your approval, your patch goes into production and is embroidered in our embroidery works. Once finished, we carry out another internal quality check and immediately afterwards it is dispatched to you (there are no extra shipping costs for you – these are already included in the price!).

1. Enter the desired patch size:
The first step is to specify the size of your embroidered patch (width and height in cm). For round patches (e.g. with a diameter of 8 cm), enter 8 cm x 8 cm in the ‘Height x Width’ field. You can order patches directly here up to a size of 12.7 cm (diameter for round patches, width + height / 2 for all other shapes). Larger patches are also possible, but will be priced on a case-by-case basis. To receive a quote, please send us your logo, specifying the desired size and quantity. We will then send you our competitively priced quote.

2. Selection of possible extras (special requests)
Here you can specify whether you would like the colours in gold, silver or bronze – for a small surcharge – as metallic threads. These give patches a particularly elegant finish. We can also produce your patch with a special fastening. You can choose between an iron-on backing or a Velcro fastening. If no specific fastening is specified or requested in your order, we will produce your patches for sewing on as standard. Furthermore, two different base fabrics are available for your embroidered patch. The standard option is twill fabric (a special cotton blend), which will be used for your patch unless you select the felt backing option.

3. Specifying the desired order quantity
In the third step of the ordering process, you will need to specify the quantity you wish to order. Please note that the minimum order quantity for patches is 20.

4. Specifying optional requests
Please specify the font, embroidery thread and background colours in the file you upload. Please enter the colour codes (RAL, HKS or Pantone colours) in the message field. If no details are provided, our staff will select a suitable font, embroidery thread and background colours for you.

5. Uploading your own template:
To upload your design or sketch, click on the “Upload your own design here!” box, select your file (accepted file types are *.jpg, *.gif and *.png) and then click “Open”. If your embroidered patch design is already on file with Neumeyer-Abzeichen or will be supplied at a later date, please tick the relevant box. If you have several designs for your motif, e.g.: you have photographed the original patch and are uploading this photo via “Upload template”, but you also have a further sketch showing the amended text for this patch, please upload this image of your sketch via the “Send enquiry” form. You can send your template in the following file formats: *.pdf, *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.zip, *.gzip, *.rar, *.tar and *.7z, with a resolution of 300 dpi. If you do not have your design available in this format, a sketch will suffice. You are also welcome to send us these additional designs via your own email account to info@aufnaeher.de.

6. Ordering and payment process
You complete the ordering process by providing your delivery and payment details. As soon as we have received your order online, you will be sent an order confirmation and an invoice for your patches by email. Please note that we can only make a final decision on whether your design is suitable for the production of an embroidered patch once we have reviewed it. Should this not be the case, our staff will inform you of this and advise you on an alternative option (woven or printed). Naturally, you will also receive a refund if no solution can be found. A few days after placing your order, you will receive a photo of the embroidered patch for your approval. Any improvements (where technically possible) or colour changes can be made free of charge to the first embroidery sample. We will only commence production of your embroidered patches once you have given your final approval.
