What are iron-on patches?
A Iron-on patches (also known as an iron-on patch, iron-on patch or appliqué) has a special hot-melt adhesive layer on the reverse. When the patch is heated with an iron, the adhesive bonds firmly to the fabric. This allows you to apply your logo, crest or chosen text to T-shirts, jackets, bags, jerseys or workwear without the need for a needle and thread. On request, we can also produce your patches with Velcro backing or for sewing on.

How to iron on your patch correctly
- Preheat the iron to a medium to high temperature (cotton setting, without steam).
- Position the patch with the adhesive side facing the desired location.
- Place a thin sheet of baking paper or a cotton cloth over the patch.
- Iron for approx. 20–30 seconds, applying firm pressure; leave to cool, then iron the reverse side if necessary.
Tip: For clothing that is subject to heavy wear and tear (e.g. workwear or sportswear), we recommend also sewing the iron-on patch down at the edges. You can find detailed instructions in our FAQ.
Iron-on transfer, Velcro or sewing on – which backing is best?
For permanent attachment without sewing, this is the Iron-on transfer ideal. If the patch is to be interchangeable (e.g. on uniforms or bags), we recommend a Velcro backing. Frequently asked questions about iron-on patches
Do iron-on transfers hold up in the washing machine?
Yes. Our iron-on patches are designed for normal machine washing (30–40 °C). If you wash the garment inside out and avoid using the tumble dryer, the patch will last particularly well. If the garment is subject to very heavy wear and tear, we recommend sewing the edges down for extra security.
What fabrics can I iron-on patches onto?
Best used on cotton and sturdy blended fabrics. For delicate or water-repellent materials (e.g. nylon, softshell), we recommend the Velcro or sewn-on versions instead – we’d be happy to advise you.
