Variations in coat of arms patches

You can order your coats of arms as embroidered patches from our embroidery workshop in almost any size up to approx. 40 cm. Embroidered coat of arms patches look very impressive and are also the most cost-effective (and most common) production method whilst maintaining high quality.

As well as embroidered crests, we also offer a woven version. With this option, the patch is thinner and more flexible. Furthermore, the fine details of your crest can be reproduced much more effectively – even when a high level of detail is required.

Printed crest patches offer an unlimited range of colours (including colour gradients) and the highest level of detail. However, they are also the most expensive production method. All three production methods can also be fitted with an iron-on backing on the reverse side. This gives you iron-on crests.

Typical users of coat-of-arms patches

When you see patches featuring coats of arms, the first things that spring to mind are the fire service, various aid organisations (e.g. DLRG, THW, …) or the German Armed Forces and reservists’ clubs. In these cases, the patches very often take the shape of a shield (flat at the top and rounded at the bottom). Patches associated with carnival also often take the form of a coat of arms, as carnival uniforms were originally designed as a parody of the military. Accordingly, many carnival coat-of-arms patches are much more colourful and have curved outer edges.

In addition, shooting clubs, motorbike clubs and many other organisations have patches and badges that incorporate elements and shapes from coats of arms. Embroidered coats of arms are also popular on patches associated with towns, parishes or regions, featuring, for example, the regional or town coat of arms. And even families like to show their sense of family and solidarity with Family coat of arms (whether they are historically based or newly designed) and distribute them in the form of patches.

However, coat-of-arms-shaped patches are by no means limited to the uses mentioned. Time and again, we see our customers making very creative use of them in a wide variety of areas.
